In this site are to be found sections dealing with old roads and tracks, some archaeology and some picture taken in the area. This area is largely the southern part of Brecknockshire and the northern part of what used to be Monmouthshire. The map is of approxiamately 1900 and shows the then extensive railway networks.
Although divided into sections in many
cases the roads and tracks described are interconnected. A
general discussion on old roads and tracks is to be found in
Volume 1, Chapter 1.
This work has been largely a personal endeavour and I have given
credit to others whenever I have been aware of their work but if
I have missed anybody out I will be happy to credit them at some
future update of the site. I would value contributions which
might help to give a greater understanding of the items discussed.
The work is on-going and the site will be subject to additions
and revisions.
Having wandered quite extensively around the area I have talked
to many people and am aware that a great many finds are made, either by accident or by metal detectorist, which go unreported
and thus lose their contextual value. For this reason I am including the address
of the Finds Liason Office at Cardiff and discuss this problem more fully in Volume 6,
Assorted Archaeology, in the Discussion. To
be fair, many people would report their findings, if only they
knew how.

Within each volume you will be able to click on the names of
photographs, maps and diagrams to bring up a thumbnail. A further
click on this will give you a full page picture. Clicking on the
button will return you to the text page. Because of the level of
detail provision has been made to enable some of the maps and
diagrams to be printed out. You will also find an on-screen
button to take you back to title page.
